Just had an incredible reunion with my old army buddy, Huston Herron. We served together in Germany a decade ago, and tonight was our first meetup since then. It’s amazing how time melts away when you’re with an old friend – we fell right back into our old rhythms, joking and chatting like no time had passed at all.

Herron’s journey since our army days is inspiring. He’s now a successful 34-year-old audio engineer, exuding confidence and leadership. It’s a far cry from the specialist I remember, who struggled with drug tests and eventually got kicked out for weed. Seeing his transformation and the beautiful life he’s built for himself fills me with joy and pride.

We reminisced about our weekend escapes to snowboard across Europe, a time when we were young, carefree, and unstoppable. Herron even pulled out his phone to show me old photos from those trips. It was heartwarming to see how much those memories meant to him too.

While I felt a twinge of insecurity about my own career path, especially after quitting my job at US Translation Company, the evening was a powerful reminder of the bonds forged in service. We may have taken different paths, but the connection remains strong. As we parted ways, I couldn’t help but feel that same sense of unstoppable spirit we had back then. Some things, like true friendship, never change.
