I came to work expecting to cover a story about an individual whose debit card had been stolen during our shift. However, Mike Lee tweeted publicly that Robinson should receive the death penalty, which immediately forced us to pivot to that developing story.

To be honest, I don’t enjoy covering what politicians tweet, but in this line of work it becomes relevant, and pivots are sometimes unavoidable. The day was chaotic. We began gathering interviews around 5 p.m., and by 7 p.m., Salt Lake City traffic was at its worst, which slowed us down significantly.

Despite the challenges, the story came together by the end of the day, and we made slot.
