I was teamed up with Brian Will to cover a story in Tooele involving a reported prowler in a neighborhood. After hours of knocking on doors, we were forced to pivot due to a lack of strong characters willing to go on camera.
Unfortunately, the Tooele story didn’t materialize, and we had to pivot again this time to the Erika Kirk case after news broke that she had requested a speedy trial. That shift was challenging, given that we were already in Tooele, roughly an hour away from the station.
We started working on the original story around 7 p.m., and by the end of the night we had lost several hours due to the multiple pivots. Despite the setbacks, the package came together, and we ultimately made slot.
